Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania – Arusha

Meet your Nawahi team in Arusha and settle into your accommodation. Your private safari guide will provide a relaxed briefing covering the safari route, wildlife focus and walking experience ahead. Enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure or arrange an optional Arusha city or cultural experience.

Day 2: Arusha → Tarangire

Depart Arusha and enter Tarangire National Park for your first Big Five-focused wildlife experience. Explore the park's baobab landscapes, open plains and woodland while searching for elephants, lions, buffalo, giraffe, zebra and other wildlife. Your guide will follow current sightings and spend time around areas offering the best wildlife activity.

Day 3: Tarangire → Ngorongoro Crater

Travel towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into the crater for an immersive wildlife drive. The crater's enclosed ecosystem offers excellent opportunities to encounter lions, elephants, buffalo, hippos, hyenas and flamingos. With luck, you may also spot black rhino. After the game drive, ascend to the highlands and settle into your accommodation.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater → Walking Area

Enjoy a relaxed morning before continuing to an approved walking area. Leave the safari vehicle behind and join a qualified local guide for a guided walking experience. Learn to recognise animal footprints, tracks, droppings, plants, insects and other subtle signs of wildlife activity. The experience is less about distance and more about learning how to read the landscape around you.

Day 5: Walking Area → Serengeti

Continue towards Serengeti National Park after your walking experience. As you enter the Serengeti, the landscape opens into expansive plains, rocky kopjes and wildlife-rich habitats. Begin your first game drive as you make your way towards camp, with opportunities to encounter wildebeest, zebra, giraffe, elephants and predators.

Day 6: Serengeti Full-Day Safari

Spend a full day exploring Serengeti with your private guide, focusing on the wildlife encounters that define the ecosystem. Search for lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants and buffalo while also watching for large herbivore herds and other predators. Your guide will use recent sightings, animal behaviour and seasonal conditions to determine where to explore.

Day 7: Northern Serengeti → Arusha

Enjoy a final morning game drive in Serengeti, taking advantage of the cooler hours when predators and other wildlife may be particularly active. After leaving the park, continue towards Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward journey.

The itinerary visits excellent Big Five habitats in Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Serengeti, but sightings are never guaranteed. Your guide will follow wildlife activity and maximise opportunities based on current conditions.
