Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania – Arusha

Meet your Nawahi team in Arusha and settle into your accommodation. Your safari guide will provide a relaxed briefing covering the camping journey, route and experiences ahead. Use the remainder of the day to rest, explore Arusha or prepare for your departure into the wilderness.

10 Day Grand Tanzania Wildlife Journey through Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire, and other iconic wildlife destinations.

Day 2: Arusha → Tarangire

Depart Arusha and enter Tarangire National Park for your first full wildlife experience. Explore the park's baobab-studded landscapes, open plains, woodland and seasonal wetlands. Spend the day following wildlife activity, with excellent opportunities to encounter elephants, giraffe, zebra, buffalo, antelope and predators. Later, settle into your safari camp and experience your first evening in the wilderness.

Day 3: Tarangire → Lake Eyasi

Enjoy a morning game drive in Tarangire before continuing towards Lake Eyasi. Leave the main safari circuit behind as the landscape becomes increasingly remote and culturally distinctive. Arrive around Lake Eyasi and settle into your camp, with time to enjoy the surrounding environment.

Day 4: Lake Eyasi → Adzabe & Datoga Experience

Spend the day exploring the cultural landscape around Lake Eyasi with a local guide. Meet members of the Hadzabe community and gain insight into traditional hunting, gathering and everyday life. Continue with an opportunity to meet members of the Datoga community and learn about traditional livestock keeping, metalworking and craftsmanship.

Day 5: Lake Eyasi → Ngorongoro

Depart Lake Eyasi and continue towards the Ngorongoro Highlands. The landscape changes dramatically as you climb from the dry lake region into fertile volcanic terrain. Arrive in the Ngorongoro area and settle into camp. Enjoy the evening surrounded by the highland scenery before the following day's crater experience.

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater

Descend into Ngorongoro Crater for a full wildlife experience. Explore the crater floor in search of lions, elephants, buffalo, hippos, hyenas, flamingos and, with luck, the endangered black rhino. After the game drive, ascend from the crater and return to camp for a relaxed evening.

Day 7: Ngorongoro → Central Serengeti

Leave the Ngorongoro Highlands and continue into Serengeti National Park. As you enter the plains, begin your first wildlife exploration across the vast Serengeti ecosystem. Explore areas around Central Serengeti, where resident wildlife and big cats can provide rewarding encounters throughout the year.

Day 8: Central Serengeti: Full-Day Wildlife

Spend a full day exploring Central Serengeti with your private guide. Without a fixed transfer schedule, the day can be shaped around current wildlife activity and your interests. Follow predator sightings, explore kopjes and open plains, and look for lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, giraffe, zebra and large herbivore herds.

Day 9: Serengeti: Deep Wildeness Day

Enjoy another full day in the Serengeti, allowing more time to explore beyond the main wildlife areas. Your guide will use recent sightings and seasonal conditions to determine where to focus the day's game drives. Depending on the season, you may also encounter areas influenced by the Great Migration, while resident wildlife remains a major part of the experience.

Day 8: Arusha → Serengeti

Enjoy a final morning game drive before beginning your journey out of the Serengeti. Continue towards Arusha by road, with opportunities to stop along the way for scenery, local interaction or refreshments. Arrive in Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward journey.
