Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania – Arusha

Arrive in Arusha and settle into your premium accommodation. Meet your Nawahi team and private safari guide for a relaxed briefing over the journey ahead. The remainder of the day is intentionally unhurried, giving you time to rest, enjoy your surroundings or arrange a private city or cultural experience.

Accommodation: Arusha
Meals: Dinner

Day 2: Arusha → Tarangire

Begin your safari with a journey into Tarangire National Park, where enormous baobabs, seasonal wetlands and open grasslands create one of northern Tanzania's most distinctive wildlife landscapes. Spend the day on a private game drive, following wildlife activity at a comfortable pace. Tarangire is particularly renowned for its elephants, while giraffe, zebra, buffalo, antelope and predators may also be encountered.

Accommodation:Tarangire area
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 3: Tarangire → Lake Eyasi

Enjoy a relaxed morning in Tarangire before continuing towards Lake Eyasi. The landscape gradually changes as you leave the established safari circuit and enter one of Tanzania's more remote cultural regions. Arrive around Lake Eyasi and settle into your accommodation, with time to appreciate the surrounding landscape and prepare for the following day's cultural experience.

Accommodation:Lake Eyasi area
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 4: Lake Eyasi Cultural Experience

Spend the day exploring the cultural landscape around Lake Eyasi with a knowledgeable local guide. Depending on the community experience arranged, meet members of the Hadzabe and Datoga communities and learn about traditional livelihoods, hunting and gathering practices, livestock keeping, craftsmanship and everyday life. The experience is centred on genuine interaction and respectful cultural exchange rather than staged entertainment. Later, return to your accommodation and enjoy a quieter evening beside the lake.

Accommodation:Lake Eyasi
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 5: Lake Eyasi → Ngorongoro Crater

Leave Lake Eyasi and travel towards the Ngorongoro Highlands. As the route climbs, the dry landscapes around the lake give way to fertile volcanic terrain and sweeping highland scenery. Arrive at your premium accommodation in the Ngorongoro area and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure. The slower pace allows you to appreciate the landscape before your crater experience.

Accommodation:Ngorongoro Highlands
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 6: Ngorongoro → Central Serengeti

Descend into Ngorongoro Crater for an immersive morning game drive. Explore the crater floor in search of lions, elephants, buffalo, hippos, hyenas, flamingos and, with luck, the endangered black rhino. After the crater experience, continue towards Central Serengeti. Watch the landscape transform from volcanic highlands into the endless plains of the Serengeti ecosystem.

Accommodation:Central Serengeti
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 7: Central Serengeti

Wake in the heart of the Serengeti and enjoy a full day of private wildlife exploration. With no need to rush between destinations, your guide can follow current wildlife activity and spend more time in areas offering rewarding sightings. Explore plains, kopjes and riverine habitats while looking for lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, giraffe, zebra and large herbivore herds.

Accommodation:Central Serengeti
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 8: Central Serengeti Deep Wildeness Day

Enjoy another full day in Central Serengeti, allowing the safari to go deeper into the ecosystem. The day's route can be shaped around recent sightings, predator activity, seasonal conditions and your interests. For photographers and wildlife enthusiasts, the additional time creates opportunities to wait patiently for natural behaviour rather than simply moving from one sighting to another. Depending on the season, the route may also be influenced by the movement of the Great Migration.

Accommodation:Central Serengeti
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 9: Central Serengeti → Arusha

Enjoy a final morning game drive before beginning your journey out of the Serengeti. Depending on your onward travel plans, continue by road towards Arusha or connect with a scheduled safari flight for a more time-efficient departure. Arrive in Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward journey.

Journey ends: Arusha / JRO
