Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania – Arusha

Meet your Nawahi team, settle into Arusha and receive a relaxed safari briefing before the adventure begins.

Accommodation: Nawahi-selected Arusha lodge
Meals: Dinner

Day 2: Tarangire

Explore Tarangire's elephant country on a private game drive, with baobabs, seasonal wetlands and excellent opportunities for giraffe, zebra, buffalo and predators.

Accommodation:Nawahi-selected Tarangire lodge
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 3: Tarangire to Lake Manyara

Enjoy another wildlife-focused morning in the Tarangire ecosystem before continuing towards Lake Manyara. The pace remains flexible, allowing your guide to respond to current wildlife activity rather than rushing between destinations. Arrive near Lake Manyara in the afternoon and settle into your accommodation surrounded by the landscapes of the Rift Valley.

Accommodation:Nawahi-selected Manyara/Karatu lodge
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4: Lake Manyara

Explore Lake Manyara's compact but remarkably diverse ecosystem, where groundwater forest, woodland, open plains, alkaline lake shores and escarpment landscapes create a rich concentration of wildlife. Look for elephants, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, baboons and abundant birdlife, with sightings shaped by seasonal water levels and current park conditions.

Accommodation:Nawahi-selected Ngorongoro lodge
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5: Ngorongoro Highlands

Leave Lake Manyara behind and travel into the Ngorongoro Highlands, where the scenery changes dramatically as the route climbs through fertile volcanic landscapes and highland communities. Take time to appreciate the landscapes beyond the game drives, with opportunities for a cultural experience or carefully selected local activities depending on your interests.

Accommodation: Central Serengeti camp - multiple nights
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater

Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for one of the most memorable wildlife experiences of the journey. The crater floor supports an extraordinary concentration of wildlife, with opportunities to see lions, elephants, buffalo, hippos, hyenas, flamingos and, with luck, the endangered black rhino. After the crater experience, continue towards Serengeti as the landscape gradually opens into endless plains.

Meals: Breakfast

Day 7: Central Serengeti

Enter Serengeti and begin exploring one of Africa's great wildlife landscapes. Spend the day following wildlife activity across open plains, rocky kopjes and riverine areas. Central Serengeti offers exceptional resident wildlife viewing throughout the year, with particularly strong opportunities for lions, cheetahs, leopards and large herbivore herds.

Meals: Breakfast

Day 8: Serengeti full day wildlife experience

Slow the pace and dedicate an entire day to Serengeti. Rather than following a fixed route, your private guide will read the landscape and respond to wildlife movements, tracks and recent sightings. Depending on the season and location of the herds, the day may focus on predator activity, large wildebeest and zebra concentrations, kopjes, river corridors or quieter areas away from the main routes.

Meals: Breakfast

Day 9: Serengeti Wildeness

Enjoy your final full day in the Serengeti with the freedom to explore according to the season and wildlife conditions. Your exact area can be adjusted to maximise the experience, whether that means remaining in Central Serengeti, moving towards the Western Corridor or exploring the northern reaches when the migration is in that region. This flexibility keeps the safari focused on wildlife rather than simply ticking locations off a map.

Meals: Breakfast

Day 10: Serengeti to Arusha / JRO

Enjoy a final morning game drive before beginning your onward journey. Depending on your travel plans, you may continue by road towards Arusha or connect with a scheduled safari flight from the Serengeti. For travellers extending their journey, additional nights in Arusha, a cultural experience or time on Zanzibar can be arranged.

Meals: Breakfast
